Cello soundpost crack and short crack on bass side.
Two cracks one soundpost crack and the other short crack running into the bass bar. Luckily the bass bar stopped this crack. A few millimetre to the left and the crack would have run alongside the bass bar which would make for a far more expensive repair.
Apart from gluing up the cracks and fitting studs or cleats the soundpost crack repair includes a patch. This is standard for a soundpost crack repair. Major repairs to a belly or back requires making a paster cast to carry out the repairs, the cast provides a safe counter form for clamping. The patch is fitted into the belly two thirds it's thickness. Above right job done and varnish retouched .
