James Beatley Luthier.

Maker of musical Instruments since 1980

Diploma N.S.V.M.

About myself.

At the age of nine I learned to play mandolin and tenor banjo, and continued for almost thirty years until I made my first violin, which is what I mostly play now. The first instrument I made was a tenor banjo, lots of metal work appealed to me because of the engineering background. After the banjo I continued making mandolin's and mandola's for about eight years before turning my hand to making violins.
Since my course at N.S.V.M. I have set-up my workshop from my house in Dublin's Stoneybatter (birth place of the famous Dublin poet Austin Clark). Here is where I work and sell my instruments , callers are always welcome but please do make an appointment.
